Ugly, by definition can only be used in relation to someone's aesthetics in comparison to something they define as 'beautiful' or 'perfect'. Aka; models and celebrities. Everyone has different preferences with beauty because of how we are influenced by media. So when people say you are beautiful, they mean it! People who idolize models won't agree because they mimic what the media TELLS them is beauty, and insult people who don't :)
